Transit time estimates begin on the first business day after carrier pick-up and do not account for weather delays, natural disasters, or carrier disruptions. Bourbon Foundry House is not responsible for carrier-caused delays once an order has been tendered.

2.2 Address & Delivery Restrictions

  • PO Boxes are not accepted. Alcohol shipments require an adult signature and cannot be delivered to unmanned mailboxes or postal facilities.
  • International forwarding addresses, freight forwarders, and re-shipping services are not accepted for domestic orders. Bourbon Foundry House is not responsible for packages delivered to such addresses.
  • Remote, rural, limited-access, or residential areas may incur additional carrier surcharges of $6.50–$15.35 per package. These will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
  • Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories may have longer transit times and higher shipping rates.

2.3 State Shipping Restrictions

Due to varying state laws governing the direct-to-consumer shipment of alcoholic beverages, Bourbon Foundry House can only ship to states where such shipments are legally permitted. Availability is confirmed at checkout based on your shipping address.

Restricted States: A current list of states to which we ship is available at bourbonfoundryhouse.com/shipping-states. State availability is subject to change without notice as laws are updated. If your state is not on the approved list, your order will be cancelled and fully refunded.

Customers are solely responsible for ensuring that receipt of alcohol shipments is legal in their jurisdiction. Bourbon Foundry House reserves the right to decline any order if, in its sole discretion, fulfillment would violate applicable law.

2.4 Shipping Rates

  • Flat-rate and real-time carrier rates are calculated at checkout based on package weight, dimensions, destination, and selected service level.
  • Free standard ground shipping is available on qualifying orders totaling $150 or more after all applicable discounts and before taxes and carrier surcharges.
  • Additional remote-area, residential delivery ($6.50/package), or fuel surcharges imposed by carriers will be passed through to the customer and itemized at checkout.

3. International Shipping

3.1 Eligible Countries

Bourbon Foundry House ships to select international destinations where U.S. spirits exports and the destination country's alcohol import regulations permit. A current list of eligible countries is available at bourbonfoundryhouse.com/international-shipping or will be presented at checkout based on the shipping address provided.

Customer Responsibility: It is the customer's sole responsibility to verify that importing bourbon or whiskey from the United States is legal in their country of residence and at the point of delivery. Bourbon Foundry House makes no warranties regarding the legality of import in any given country.

3.2 International Carriers & Transit Times

  • International orders are shipped via DHL Express, FedEx International, or UPS Worldwide, or comparable international carriers.
  • Estimated international transit time: 7–21 business days, depending on the destination country, customs clearance time, and carrier routing.
  • Expedited international options may be available at an additional cost. Options and rates will be displayed at checkout.
  • International tracking is included on all shipments. Tracking updates may be less frequent once a package enters the destination country's postal system.

3.3 Customs, Duties & Import Taxes

All international orders may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, VAT, excise taxes, and other fees levied by the government of the destination country. These charges are entirely the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in the purchase price or shipping cost displayed on bourbonfoundryhouse.com.

  • Bourbon Foundry House has no ability to predict, calculate, or control the amount of customs duties or import taxes that may be assessed.
  • Customs fees are typically collected by the carrier upon delivery. Refusal to pay may result in the package being held, returned, or destroyed by customs authorities.
  • All required export and customs documentation, including commercial invoices and applicable HS codes for spirits (HS Code: 2208.30 for bourbon whiskey), will be accurately completed by Bourbon Foundry House. We do not falsify customs declarations or undervalue shipments.
  • International orders may be delayed by customs inspections. Bourbon Foundry House is not liable for such delays.

3.4 Import Restrictions & Prohibited Countries

Customers must verify that their country permits the importation of alcohol from the United States before placing an order. Bourbon Foundry House cannot ship to countries where the import of alcohol is prohibited by law.

  • If an order is placed for a destination that is subsequently identified as prohibited under U.S. export law or the destination country's import law, the order will be cancelled and refunded, less any applicable payment processing fees.
  • If a shipment is seized, destroyed, rejected, or confiscated by customs authorities because the product is prohibited or restricted, Bourbon Foundry House is not liable and no refund will be issued for the product or shipping cost.
  • The customer assumes all risk associated with importing alcohol from the United States into their country.

3.5 Insurance

International shipments are insured up to $100 USD at the carrier's standard declared value. Optional additional insurance coverage may be purchased at checkout for high-value orders. Bourbon Foundry House strongly recommends purchasing supplemental insurance for orders exceeding $200 USD.

3.6 Returns Due to Customs Refusal or Non-Payment of Duties

If a package is returned to Bourbon Foundry House because the recipient refused to pay applicable customs duties, failed to claim the package, or allowed the package to be abandoned at customs:

  • The customer will be refunded the product cost only, minus the original outbound shipping charges, return shipping charges (if any, as imposed by the carrier), and any import/re-export fees assessed.
  • If the returned package is damaged or destroyed during the return process, no refund will be issued.
  • Bourbon Foundry House is under no obligation to re-ship an order that has been returned due to customs refusal.

4. Age Verification & Signature Requirement

Because Bourbon Foundry House sells alcoholic beverages, all shipments are subject to mandatory age verification and adult signature requirements at the time of delivery.

4.1 Pre-Shipment Age Verification

  • By placing an order, you represent and warrant that you are at least 21 years of age, or the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher.
  • Bourbon Foundry House may use a third-party age-verification service to confirm your identity and age before processing your order. You agree to provide accurate information and to cooperate with any verification process.
  • Orders for which age verification cannot be completed will be cancelled and refunded.

4.2 Delivery Signature Requirement

Mandatory Adult Signature: An adult (21+ years of age, or the legal drinking age in the destination jurisdiction, whichever is higher) must be present at the time of delivery to sign for the package. A valid, government-issued photo ID will be required upon delivery.
  • Carriers are instructed not to leave packages unattended. If no eligible adult is present, the carrier will make up to 3 delivery attempts before returning the package.
  • The carrier may leave a delivery attempt notice with instructions for rescheduling or picking up the package at a carrier facility.
  • Failed delivery attempts may result in redelivery fees charged by the carrier. These fees are the customer's responsibility.
  • If the package is returned due to repeated failed delivery attempts, the customer will be responsible for all associated return shipping costs and may be assessed a restocking fee of 15%.
  • For international shipments, the legal drinking age of the destination country applies if higher than 21. Bourbon Foundry House will note this requirement on customs documentation where applicable.

5. Shipping Restrictions & Legal Compliance

The sale and interstate or international shipment of alcoholic beverages is heavily regulated. Bourbon Foundry House is committed to full compliance with all applicable laws.

  • Bourbon Foundry House operates in compliance with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), applicable state alcohol control boards, and all relevant international export regulations.
  • Customers are solely responsible for knowing and complying with all local, state, and federal laws applicable to the receipt and possession of alcohol in their jurisdiction. Ignorance of the law is not an accepted basis for a refund or dispute.
  • All required excise taxes will be collected and remitted by Bourbon Foundry House in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
  • Orders to prohibited or restricted jurisdictions (domestic or international) will be cancelled without processing, and a full refund will be issued, less any applicable payment processing fees.
  • Bourbon Foundry House reserves the right to refuse service to any customer or jurisdiction at its sole discretion, for any reason consistent with applicable law.
  • Orders placed using a freight forwarder or third-party reshipping address may be cancelled if Bourbon Foundry House determines that the final destination is a jurisdiction where shipment is prohibited.

6. Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Shipments

Bourbon Foundry House takes great care in packaging all shipments. In the unlikely event that your order arrives damaged, is lost in transit, or is stolen after delivery, please follow the procedure below.

6.1 Damaged Shipments

  • Inspect your package immediately upon receipt, even if the exterior packaging appears undamaged.
  • If you discover damage, retain all original packaging materials (outer box, inner packaging, protective inserts). Do not discard any materials.
  • Report the damage to Bourbon Foundry House at support@bourbonfoundryhouse.com within 48 hours of delivery, with photographic evidence of (a) the damaged product, (b) the inner packaging, and (c) the outer shipping carton, including all sides.
  • Bourbon Foundry House will initiate a carrier claim on your behalf. Claims are subject to carrier investigation and may take 5–10 business days to resolve.
  • For international shipments, carrier claim deadlines may be as short as 3–7 days from delivery. International customers should contact us immediately upon receipt of a damaged item.

6.2 Lost Shipments

  • If your tracking information shows no movement for 5 or more consecutive business days, or if the carrier confirms a package as lost, please contact us at support@bourbonfoundryhouse.com.
  • Bourbon Foundry House will file a claim with the carrier and, upon claim approval, will issue a replacement shipment or a full refund at the customer's election.
  • Packages marked as "Delivered" by the carrier are considered received. If you believe your package was stolen after delivery, you must file a police report and provide a copy to Bourbon Foundry House before a claim will be considered.

6.3 Stolen Packages

  • Bourbon Foundry House strongly recommends requiring a signature upon delivery to prevent theft. If signature was waived at the customer's request and the package is subsequently stolen, Bourbon Foundry House assumes no liability.
  • We are not liable for packages delivered to incorrect addresses provided by the customer.

7. Incorrect Address & Returned Shipments

Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping addresses at the time of checkout. Bourbon Foundry House will ship to the address provided and cannot be held responsible for non-delivery due to customer error.

  • If you discover an address error after placing your order, contact us immediately at support@bourbonfoundryhouse.com. We will make every effort to correct the address before the order is picked up by the carrier, but we cannot guarantee address changes once a shipment is in transit.
  • If a package is returned to Bourbon Foundry House due to (a) an incorrect or incomplete address provided by the customer, (b) failure to claim the package at a carrier facility, (c) three failed delivery attempts, or (d) refusal of delivery by the recipient:
  1. The customer will be charged for the original outbound shipping cost and any return shipping fees imposed by the carrier.
  2. A restocking fee of 15% of the product subtotal will be applied.
  3. The remaining balance will be refunded to the original payment method within 5–10 business days of the package being received and inspected.
  • If the customer wishes to have the package re-shipped, a new shipping charge will be assessed at the current carrier rate for the selected service level.
  • Packages that are damaged, opened, or contain broken bottles upon return may not be eligible for a product refund.

8. Weather & Temperature Protection

Bourbon and whiskey products may be sensitive to extreme temperatures during transit. Bourbon Foundry House takes precautions to minimize the risk of temperature-related product changes.

  • During summer months (typically June through August), orders may be shipped with insulated packaging and cold packs at no additional charge.
  • During winter months (typically December through February), orders may be packed with additional insulation to prevent freezing.
  • Once a package is accepted by the carrier, Bourbon Foundry House is not liable for any changes to product quality caused by temperature exposure during transit, including but not limited to heat damage, freezing, or condensation.
  • Customers in regions with extreme climates are encouraged to select expedited shipping to minimize transit time and reduce the risk of temperature exposure.
  • Bourbon Foundry House strongly recommends against leaving packages unattended outdoors in extreme temperatures. Plan your delivery accordingly.

9. International Export Disclaimer

The export of distilled spirits from the United States is subject to U.S. federal law, including regulations administered by the TTB and U.S. Department of Commerce. Bourbon Foundry House complies fully with all applicable U.S. export laws and regulations.

Prohibited Destinations: Bourbon Foundry House will not export alcohol to countries subject to U.S. trade embargoes, export sanctions, or restrictions under applicable U.S. law. If an order is placed for a destination on any applicable prohibited-country list, the order will be cancelled and the customer will receive a full refund, less any payment processing fees already incurred.
  • Customers are solely responsible for complying with all laws and regulations of the destination country regarding the import of alcoholic beverages from the United States.
  • Bourbon Foundry House makes no representation or warranty that the products it offers are legal for importation, sale, or use in any jurisdiction outside the United States.
  • Customers agree to indemnify and hold Bourbon Foundry House harmless from any liability arising from their failure to comply with the laws of their country of import.

Compliance Action Items for Owner

The following steps are required to fully implement this Shipping Policy in a legally compliant manner. This checklist does not constitute legal advice; consult qualified legal counsel for your specific situation.

  1. State Shipping List: Compile and maintain a current, accurate list of U.S. states to which direct-to-consumer spirits shipments are permitted. Review state laws at least quarterly, as they change frequently. Publish the list at bourbonfoundryhouse.com/shipping-states and update your checkout system accordingly.
  2. Country Shipping List: Identify eligible international destination countries by reviewing U.S. export regulations (TTB/Department of Commerce) and each country's alcohol import rules. Publish the list at bourbonfoundryhouse.com/international-shipping.
  3. Age Verification at Checkout: Integrate a third-party age-verification solution (e.g., AgeID, Veratad, or similar) at the point of purchase. Verify compliance with applicable state age-verification mandates for DTC alcohol shipments.
  4. Carrier-Level Adult Signature: Configure mandatory Adult Signature Required (ASR) or Direct Signature Required on all domestic and international alcohol shipments within your carrier accounts (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.). Do not allow signature waivers on alcohol orders.
  5. Customs Documentation & HS Code: Ensure all international shipments use the correct Harmonized System (HS) code for bourbon whiskey (HS 2208.30) on customs declarations. Complete accurate EEI filings via AES (Automated Export System) where required for shipments over $2,500.
  6. Carrier Alcohol Compliance Programs: Enroll in and comply with each carrier's alcohol shipping program (e.g., UPS My Choice for Business, FedEx Alcohol Shipper Agreement). Maintain copies of all signed carrier agreements.
  7. Licensing Review: Confirm that your federal basic permit (TTB), applicable state retailer or direct-to-consumer shipper licenses, and any required international export licenses are current and cover all jurisdictions to which you ship. Engage an attorney licensed in alcohol beverage law.
  8. Excise Tax Collection & Remittance: Configure your e-commerce platform to collect applicable federal excise taxes and state alcohol excise taxes. Establish a compliant remittance process and maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
  9. Insurance: Review and update your shipping insurance coverage limits. Consider a declared value or blanket cargo insurance policy for high-value shipments. Confirm that your general liability insurance covers DTC alcohol shipments.
  10. Legal Review: Have this Shipping Policy and all related e-commerce terms reviewed by an attorney with expertise in alcohol beverage law and e-commerce compliance before publishing to your live site. Schedule an annual review to ensure ongoing compliance.
